Available Now! Science of Sound—Experiments at Home: Episode 2
The Santa Fe Symphony and Santa Fe Institute are thrilled to co-present Experiments at Home: Episode 2 of its Science of Sound music education series. Join us as we go behind the scenes with the violin and cello with Santa Fe Institute Professor Cris Moore, Symphony Violinist Carla Kountoupes and her son and cellist, Joaquin Kountoupes. Learn about the hidden tones of harmonics and why there is a lot more to violins and cellos than their vibrating strings! And who knew you could make music with horse hair? Professor Moore teaches us that a single note is a combination of many different vibrations at different frequencies. He even shows us how to make string instruments at home!
Many thanks to Thornburg Investments for generously funding Science of Sound and making Experiments at Home: Episodes 2 and 4 possible. As each episode releases, this exciting music education series is distributed to teachers in Santa Fe Public Schools as a tool for music education during at-home learning. Look out for Episode 3—coming soon!
